I really enjoyed taking lessons with John Barrett. His time and patience really made
me feel relaxed, which allowed me to take on new learning & perform to the best of
my ability when it came to my test. I felt v.supported and that nothing was too silly
to ask -

I had changed driving instructors three times before I found John Barrett. I just happened to come accross his web site on line and I have to say that he is a brilliant instructor. He instantly put me at ease and helped me with my lack of confidence behind the wheel. I have passed his number onto three of my friends and will continue to spread the word about him. I feel that a good driving instructor is hard to come by and I was lucky to find John.

I started learning with John in January and passed first time in early April. Would
have passed even earlier if the test centre waiting list wasn't so long! John is
a fantastic instructor, calm and encouraging, with a great sense of humour. He pushes
you exactly the right amount and the information packs/workbooks he provides are
detailed and very helpful. He sometimes uses props during lessons to help explain
more difficult concepts and these work brilliantly. Within a week of passing I'd
confidently driven a fair distance on the motorway in torrential rain, went up and
down 2 multi-
It's sad that I can no longer recommend him to my friends in Southampton due to him
moving to Wales -

By the time I found John, I had had already gone through 3 instructors over 6 years. I hated driving and thought I was unteachable or it would cost too much money to learn. John was a god send: he teaching style is innovative and he taught me more in around 3 months than I believe the next best instructor could have ever done in a year. With his support, I passed my theory and practical first time and was test driving my first car with enjoyment and confidence the very next day. Thank you John Barrett!

John Barrett taught me to drive from November 09 to May 10. I have never met someone with such patience and an amazing passion for driving.
Every time I got in Johns car I felt safe and open to learning, I would highly recommend John to anyone who wanted to learn at their own pace.
Southampton are losing an amazing teacher and Wales are gaining one! I wish you all the best!

I had been learning to drive with a major driving school for quite sometime and seemed
to be getting nowhere. I found out about L2P and John via glowing references when
I did a Google search.
I was a nervous driver and didnt think I would ever pass my
test. However, after just a few lessons with John I passed both my theory and practical
tests first time.
I have since sent my eldest son and my niece to learn to drive
with John and would highly recommend him to anyone, especially those who are nervous
drivers as he has a way of making you feel at ease and getting the best out of you.

I attended a residential course with John. The accommodation was amazing his whole
family were lovely.Was a holiday as well as a driving course. I struggled to pass
my driving test for years and suffered from lack of confidence by the end on my course
with john not only was I fully relaxed and refreshed i also had my driving licence
:).
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED TO ALL john is kind and patient an excellent tutor and
I have had many.

I started learning to drive with John after he was recommended by a friend in 2009. John is a fantastic driving instructor whose permanently calm manner helped me cope with stressful situations despite my anxious tendencies. When I first started driving I was very nervous and John put me at ease with his sense of humour and patience. My confidence grew quickly and John encouraged me to tackle more challenging situations and constantly improve on my skills. I was convinced that nerves would get the better of me during my driving test but, much to my surprise, I passed first time and I'm convinced that John's tuition played a major role in my success. I went on to do my Pass Plus with John and bought my first car shortly after. I would highly recommend John as an instructor.

I took an intensive driving course with John I was living in Romsey trying to get
a job based out in Crete where I needed a license. A little secret I’d taken my
test before coming to see him already 6 times when I was younger I didn't let him
know has I was soooo nervous. He was great, patient, understanding and when the
tears cam e he even took me for a cuppa. The day of my test I was sooo nervous but
a lesson before with him calmed them right down. Well to lots of screams tears n
delight I passed with flying colours. Oh n I got the job and still living abroad
and driving well.
I would say to anyone John's great and a MUST for anyone nervous
who wants a friendly, helpful and patient guy.

I learned to drive with John in 2007, after i left my previous instructor because of her behaviour towards me. John was a breath of fresh air and he soon got my confidence back, which i had lost with previous instructor. I passed in November 2007 and I have been a safe driver ever since.

I learned to drive with John in 2006. I'd had negative experiences of driving instructors
which had a detrimental effect upon my confidence. I was not sure that I wanted to
continue learning to drive until John became my instructor! For the first time I
began to look forward to lessons and grew in confidence.
I have recommended him several
times and cannot praise him highly enough. He is a lovely, friendly and kind man
who is skilled at enabling students to feel less nervous and more confident about
their driving. I had been learning to drive for 2 years on and off prior to learning
with John, at which point it all clicked and I made progress quickly. He is just

John Barrett is an excellent driving instructor who made me feel very confident during my lessons and also showed a lot of patience towards me.
It is good to have an instructor who is friendly and patient to his learners and offers support where needed.
I managed to pass my test in 7 months of teachings from john and I would highly recommend him.
