Do you cover my area and how much are lessons?
What do I need to do to pass the test
You need to drive for 35-
How many lessons will it take to pass my test
This is impossible to answer because everyone learns at a different pace. All we can say is that normally people take between 30 and 50 hours to get to test standard. Things you can do to reduce the time and costs are: Block book your lessons; get extra practice in a friend or relatives car; do extra theory study between lessons; concentrate during your lesson. Many of our customers come from referrals from past pupils so it’s not only a matter of professional pride, it is also good business sense for us to get you to pass as quickly as possible.
Another driving school has a lower hourly rate than you, why should I spend more?
The headline hourly rate is not the true cost of learning to drive. The true cost also includes: the number of lessons you need, how many times you fail etc. all these factors are effected by the quality of tuition you receive. The other driving school could end up costing you a lot more than us. See our cost comparison to see what we mean.
Should I get extra practice in another car
For safety, we recommend that you should only drive the driving school car for your first 20 hours of tuition because it is fitted with dual controls. Once you have become proficient with the car controls, practice outside your lessons is strongly advised where possible. Make sure the car you drive is properly insured, even driving in public car parks is illegal without proper insurance. You should also ensure you are accompanied by a driver who has held a full license for at least 3 years and that you display L plates. Talk to your instructor who can give you more information, including a booklet to help your accompanying driver.
When should I apply for my test
Your instructor will tell you when it’s time to apply for your practical test. If you apply too early, you may not be ready and will waste the test fee charged by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). We like you to take your theory test as soon as possible because you can prepare for this using home study packs.
What is the theory test
The theory test was introduced a few years ago as a separate and additional test for new drivers. It consists of a computer based multiple choice exam followed by a hazard perception test where you must identify dangers on a video clip. You can take the theory test before or after you start in car lessons. Preparation for the theory test is best done as home study with additional support from your instructor. We can provide all the study materials you need.
Can you tell me more about the intensive courses?
We now have a page giving you all the information you need. Click Here
I have a license issued in another country. Can I use that or do I need to apply for a UK license?
The answer to this question depends on which country issued your license. More information is available from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency
